Where Shavasana meets Nature Connection
EcoNIDRA™ sessions can be enjoyed in yoga studios, meditation and retreat centers, plant shops, botanical gardens, parks, forests, in the office or from the comfort of your home. The only thing you need is a comfortable place to lie down, where you or your group won't be disturbed for about 40 to 50 minutes. Fifty minutes very well spent, as the re-energizing effects of EcoNIDRA™ have often been compared to 3-4 hours of deep sleep. Interested? Choose one of the Certified EcoNIDRA™ Teachers and join their session!
If attending an in-person or live stream session is not convenient for you, you can try EcoNIDRA™ in your own time, whenever it suits your schedule. On the free Insight Timer app, you can try a session in English or Dutch, guided by Kat. These sessions are also available from your web browser.
EcoNIDRA™ is a branch of yoga nidra where nidra meets Forest Therapy. It is a blend of extremely deep relaxation with techniques deepening our connection with the planet, with our closest nature, and our inner nature.
It's a technique that has the potential to plant seeds of a Heart-felt wish or Transformation in the potent ground of our unconscious that we reach by being guided to the sweet spot between waking and sleeping. During EcoNIDRA™ sessions, participants partner with nature as an active witness of their new planted intent. They are being guided on an inner pilgrimage through the body, also known as Shavayatra, or Rotation of Consciousness. Using their imaginal sense, they will set up on an Earth Journey with various professionally recorded nature soundscapes.
At the end of each session, EcoNIDRA™ practitioners are invited to do a Random Act of Kindness in their own environment and communities.
The practice of EcoNIDRA™ was born in the middle of the wold pandemic, wild emotional storms, shaking grounds and fires of 2020, a year that showed us once again and maybe stronger than ever how important relaxation, a functional immune system, our connection with the planet, proper self-care and human kindness are in this new world. The lineage of this practice has roots in the ancient practice of Yoga Nidra, more specifically the Himalayan tradition of Yoga Nidra, in Forest Therapy as taught by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy, and in the teachings of transpersonal psychology based on the Power of Kindness.
"Prior to the session, I'd had a very busy day at work and my head was full of noise and thoughts. I felt so much more calm and in a deep state of relaxation after the session. I felt so relaxed I went to sleep shortly after it and had a lovely sleep. A highlight for me were the incredible nature sounds - it literally felt like I was in middle of the Amazon! The sounds were so clear and vibrant - the sound quality was excellent. Really special to experience! :)"
"I felt very relaxed and at the same time full of energy after the session. A highlight for me was to appoint an intention and the reconnection with nature in your own room. An EcoNidra session with Kat is wonderful. I slept fabulous after the session."
"After the session, I felt more integrated in my body, with a sense of calm spaciousness as well. A highlight for me was Kat's tone of voice and pacing. As well, the extended period of nature sounds. Deeply relaxing, with a warm and inviting guide partnering with the warmth and guidance of the more-than-human world."
"Those nature sounds! I was once again taken back to my childhood where I spent many happy times roaming the swamps, woods and fields. The birds’ songs mesmerized me, just as they did back then. You did an amazing job of leading me into a relaxed state. 45 minutes well spent! Setting up the week for loving and peaceful interactions throughout."
"This is a wonderful, easy way to relax body and mind that you can do in you own home, guided in a soothing rhythm by a calm, friendly voice."
"Thank you very much. I really enjoyed this morning’s session and like the experience. It was indeed different than yoga nidra sessions that I sometimes do - more tuning in and peace. Would definitely like to experience this again."
"That was incredible. Made me feel like I was outside in the sunshine surrounded by friends and nature."
